Gavin Hunt, Moroka Swallows' coach, says the pressure put on the team by supporters was having a negative effect on them.
He said the team has managed only four wins this season, all of them away from home, a clear indication that his players fail to perform in front of their hard-to-please supporters.
Struggling Swallows registered their fourth win on Sunday when they beat inconsistent Maritzburg United in a match filled with drama at a wet Harry Gwala Stadium.
It was a well-deserved win for the Dube Birds but their supporters were unhappy with the coach before the game, when more than 20 of them staged a protest against Hunt.
But Hunt is adamant that Swallows are turning the corner.
"The fact that we've managed only four away wins should tell you where the problem lies. Players can only take so much and if our supporters could learn to be patient and give us a chance, we would win games. It's only a matter of time," said Hunt.
Meanwhile, struggling Maritzburg United said they will be negotiating a deal to buy lanky on-loan striker Sandile "AK-47" Ndlovu from Mamelodi Sundowns.
Senzo Msimang, the club's public relations officer, said: "When we loaned him from 'Downs, we made our intentions of buying him outright clear and they had no objections to that."
