After qualifying for the finals of the African Under-17 Championships, Majimbos hope to better the achievement of the Class of 2005 by reaching the World Junior Championships.

The national under-17 soccer side reached their second consecutive continental finals after a 2-2 draw with Zimbabwe in Bulawayo on Saturday. Thulane Serero and Erasmus Kermit scored for the visitors.

Majimbos, now under the watchful eye of Doctor Khumalo and Solly Luvhengo, won the first leg 5-1 at Katlehong Stadium two weeks ago.

Serero, who plays of Ajax Cape Town, said: "I was clear after winning in Katlehong that there was no way Zimbabwe would beat us.

"The only thing that we had to do was avoid underestimating them. Now that we delivered on our promise of qualifying for the finals in Togo, we want to move a step further by reaching the World Junior Championships [in South Korea]."

Khumalo praised his charges for reaching the finals, adding that he will be meeting the South African Football Association to prepare for Togo.

Molefi Oliphant, Safa president, yesterday commended Majimbos for reaching the finals and wished them good luck in Togo.
