Moroka Swallows are determined to rise from the ashes against Maritzburg United in a Castle Premiership match at Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday.
What makes the clash exciting is that the two sides are separated by only two points on the log, with United lying 11th (13 points) and Birds 12th (11 points).
"We are well aware that the team has not been doing well, but we need to rally behind them," said Sipho Xulu, Swallows' general manager.
"Such things do happen in soccer globally and Swallows are not immune to it. There is an element of loss of form, luck has also seemingly deserted us
"We also have several players, such as Goodman Mazibuko, Bjorn Gugger, Patrick Mabedi, Tebogo Munyai and Sibusiso Dlamini nursing injuries," added Xulu.
Senzo Msimang, United's communications manager, said the days of his club being a charity organisation when it comes to giving away points, was over.
"We cannot sustain our lead after scoring one or two early goals, which is cause for concern to the management.
" Christmas came early in Maritzburg for some of the clubs as we have been giving away points. Players have to start showing more commitment.
"This is our last match at home and we have no choice but to win, though we also expect Swallows to come out spitting fire," said Msimang.
United's coach Kosta Papic will rely on players such as Steve Lekoelea, Sandile Ndlovu and Collin Zimba to steer the team to victory. Swallows will bank on Evans Gwekwerere, Tshweu Mokoro and Sibusiso Themba.
In Cape Tow tomorrow, Santos welcome bottom of the table AmaZulu, who will be auctioned next week, at Green Point Stadium in a game that could go either way.
Kickoff is at 8pm.
