Nacala port expansion

MAPUTO - The company that operates the deep-water port Nacala in Mozambique said it plans to build southern Africa's biggest trans-shipment terminal at the port. It is expected to handle three million tons of regional trade a year.

Fernando Couto, administrator of Corredor de Desenvolvimento de Norte, a concession that runs Nacala port and a railway to landlocked Malawi, said the group hoped to take advantage of the region's growing trade with China and India.- Reuters
