MILAN - AC Milan chairman Adriano Galliani denied Wednesday's media reports that he would try to buy FC Barcelona forwards Samuel Eto'o and Ronaldinho in the January transfer window.
"They are two great players," Galliani told the ANSA and Apcom news agencies. "But Eto'o and Ronaldinho are unobtainable."
Milan, who are placed 15th in Italy's Serie A, have been linked with a move for Ronaldinho since selling Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko to Chelsea in May.
Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti told Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday that Eto'o was "the world's best striker" and that "for practical reasons, Eto'o would be more useful than the Brazilian (Ronaldinho)".
Galliani also denied that Shevchenko would return to Milan on loan in January.
"As I have tried to explain to the fans, a player that was bought for $59,73 million (about R419 million) cannot be put on loan after six months," Galliani said.
Shevchenko, who scored 173 goals in seven seasons in Milan, has struggled since arriving in London, scoring only four times for Chelsea.
Galliani said he would look to reinforce Milan's injury-hit defence instead.
"If there is an opportunity, perhaps we will take a defender," Galliani said.- Sapa-AP
