Three Limpopo police officers yesterday received R3000 each and a weekend at a hotel in Polokwane for "showing determination in rooting out crime in the province".
The officers were Minah Molatjane, the director of the provincial crime intelligence services; Alfred Maepa, the Vhembe police area commissioner; and Mbhazima Marungane, the station commissioner of the MW Makhubela police station previously the Giyani police station.
The prize money they won will be spent with members of their respective directorates.
Calvin Sengani, the provincial police commissioner, paid tribute to the officers at a year-end function in Polokwane, saying they had displayed the qualities needed in good police officers.
He further said he hoped the example set by the three officers would be emulated by other officers.
Sengani said the Limpopo province had also received national accolades for administering its funds properly and had been granted R32million by the Safety and Security Department.
"The money will be used to pay for our reservists," Sengani said.
"We are a province that is winning the fight against crime and most of our people work well with our officers."
