The Nedbank Group's approach to corporate social investment (CSI) continues to position the bank as a key player and partner in community upliftment and development programmes that are empowering and sustainable. Nedbank helps and cares for disadvantaged communities.

Our vision:

To be a significant part of achieving Nedbank's aspiration of being a key player and partner in community upliftment and development programmes that are empowering and sustainable.

Our key focus areas:

The group supports community projects in the following developmental areas -

Welfare: Our focus is the support of HIV-Aids initiatives, orphanages, hunger and relief programmes. Community development and upliftment is vital to the creation of a prosperous society.

Education: We see literacy as the foundation of education and as imperative to the development of our nation through our support for various school-based educational projects.

Economic development: Through the support of various entrepreneurship projects, we ensure that some South Africans can make a sustainable contribution towards enhancing and growing the country's economy.

While our focus on education and literacy remains key to unlocking the nation's potential, we also pride ourselves on the progress we have made in highlighting the importance of skills development among the disadvantaged people of South Africa, and in putting the bank's resources and human effort in delivering on this critical need, particularly among the youth.

This year Nedbank launched the Nedbank Youth Development Centre at Magnet House in Johannesburg's city centre. It is where various skills development programmes are implemented. Inherent in most of our CSI initiatives is a drive to partner with the government.

These interactions are key to achieving several of our strategic programme objectives and ultimately seeing incumbent youth emerge as employable people or entrepreneurs.

The stability, prosperity and economic freedom of all South Africans is the new driving force behind the Nedbank Foundation's commitment to community development.
