Correctional Services Minister Ngconde Balfour visited the newly recaptured Annanias Mathe in prison after the slippery Mozambican was discharged from a Pretoria hospital yesterday.

Correctional Services Minister Ngconde Balfour visited the newly recaptured Annanias Mathe in prison after the slippery Mozambican was discharged from a Pretoria hospital yesterday.

Mathe was admitted to the hospital for treatment to his fractured right leg hours after his arrest in Tembisa on Monday.

Balfour's spokesman, Manelisi Wolela, said Mathe's condition was stable and that his treatment would be continued in prison.

He has been moved to a revamped cell at Pretoria's C-Max prison, the SABC reports.

Mathe faces more than 50 charges, including murder, attempted murder, rape, hijacking and armed robbery. He escaped from the country's most secure prison over two weeks ago.

His court appearance was postponed yesterday. - McKeed Kotlolo and Sapa
