The year is coming to an end and the lastSowetan Women's Club event of the year will be on December 7 at The Emperor's Palace in Johannesburg.

In keeping with the club's aim of empowering, inspiring and informing its members, the club has featured a number of prominent women from various industries and organisations who share their expertise and ideas with its members.

This year the club has featured Nonhlanhla Mjoli-Ncube, economic adviser to Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Macia Socikwa, executive director of Knowledge Acres, and information and communication technology researcher at Unisa, and Anna Mokgokong, executive chairman of Community Investment Holdings.

Other guests included Lillian Masebenza, Danisa Baloyi, of the Gauteng Enterprise Propeller, Portia Molefe, director-general of the Department of Public Enterprises, Miller Matola, chief executive of KwaZulu-Natal Tourism, and Kentse Makgae, deputy president of the National African Federated Chamber of Commerce.

Entertainers included Basasi Women of Jazz, Linda Kekana, Thembisile, Labella and Abigail Kubeka.

New sponsors Spekko Rice and Playtex have spiced up the club menu with dishes to whet the appetite and fashion shows that have enticed both men and women.

Food expert Dorah Sitole has also become regular, giving advice on nutrition.

Club members can expect many more such speakers, plus ample business skills and support, in the coming year.
