Tembisa defend softball crown

Tembisa softball team successfully defended their Under-14 Cup at Katlehong Sports Complex at the weekend.

They won all four of their games and finished on top of the log with eight points.

Second place went to Vosloorus, with six points from the same number of games, while KwaThema grabbed third spot.

Teams from Katlehong, Tembisa, Duduza, Vosloorus and KwaThema took part in the yearly event.

Tournament director Sello "Harari" Molotsane believes the standard of softball has improved tremendously.

The Tembisa youngsters were presented with gold medals and a trophy for their sterling effort.

Results: Vosloorus 18, Duduza 2; Kwa-Thema 13, Katlehong 12; Tembisa 20, Duduza 2; Vosloorus 18, KwaThema 8; Tembisa 16, Katlehong 3; Vosloorus 12, Katlehong 3; Tembisa 9, KwaThema 4; KwaThema 19, Duduza 3; Duduza 11, Katlehong 7; Tembisa 12, Vosloorus 5.

l Eastern Gauteng Softball Union league games took place at the weekend.

Results:

Major men: Braves 7, Tembisa 5; Normans 7, Blue Sox 0; Vaal tech 9, Normans 5; Sasol Yankees 7, Joburg Stars 0.

Women: Benoni 8, Vaal Tech 2; Germiston 11, Red Sox B 7.
