Ladies in Jazz, above, will be sharing the stage with other talented musicians at the State Theatre in Pretoria this month.

A number of exciting shows will be on offer at the Drama Theatre from December 8 to December 16.

The Tshwane-based band, led by drummer Annikie Maswanganye, will feature talented songbird Thandiswa Mazwai, extraordinary guitarist Louis Mhlanga, pop star Ringo Madlingozi, African folklore music exponent Siphiwe Dana, jazz vocalist Judith Sephuma and saxophonist McCoy Mrubatha.

The series of concerts is part of the theatre's 52 seasons programme. The ambitious, developmental State Theatre programme was conceived by its artistic director and acting chief executive, Aubrey Sekhabi, two years ago.

Theatre spokesman Kenneth Nxumalo said: "The programme proves that the State Theatre is serious about the development of the arts, the welfare of our artists and a society that will not harm its women and children."

The complete programme:

l Ladies in Jazz and McCoy Mrubatha on December 8;

l Ladies in Jazz and Thandiswa Mazwai on December 8;

l Ladies In Jazz and Siphiwe Dana on December 9;

l Ladies In Jazz and Ringo on December 14;

l Ladies In Jazz and Judith Sephuma on December 16.
