Orlando Pirates are in deep trouble with the Premier Soccer League.
PSL prosecutor Zola Majavu yesterday confirmed that the Buccaneers will face two separate charges of spectator misbehaviour and bringing the league into disrepute on Wednesday evening.
"The charges follow incidents after their Telkom Knockout Cup loss to Santos and after Saturday's match," Majavu explained.
Pirates lost the cup game 1-0 on November 18 and drew 1-all with Jomo Cosmos on Saturday.
The club will also be charged alongside Isaac Chansa. The Zambian international will be charged with verbally abusing assistant referee Yugesh Anjith "in a manner considered ungentlemanly and bringing the league into disrepute" after he was sent off by referee Lwandile Mfiki.
Mfiki gave Chansa his marching orders after the midfielder allegedly swore at Anjith. Chansa lost his temper and had to be restrained by his teammates from physically harming the match official.
"The club has to take responsibility for their player," said Majavu.
Bucs are not the only team likely to face the music at the PSL disciplinary committee tomorrow or Thursday.
Moroka Swallows will have to account for their supporters' behaviour. The Birds' fans rioted at Johannesburg Stadium after their team's 0-0 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic.
"Swallows will also be charged with missile throwing and some acts of violence," Majavu said.
Swallows' fans called for coach Gavin Hunt's head after a string of defeats that include a 4-0 loss to Bidvest Wits, 2-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs and 2-1 defeat to Ajax Cape Town in a cup game.
It was not the first time Hunt was attacked by Swallows' fans. He had to be escorted out of Germiston Stadium by police when they lost 2-1 to Cosmos last month.
Chiefs were the first team to be charged with missile throwing this season and have already played a game behind closed doors.
