Yet another young musician has died tragically in a car accident.

Daniel Buys, 29, the lead singer in reggae band Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels, was apparently speeding in the emergency lane of the N1 South when the accident occurred near the Maraisburg offramp yesterday.

Three of the six people in the car were killed.

Buys is believed to have been overtaking a white Mazda by speeding in the emergency lane. He apparently swerved to avoid a stationary vehicle and hit the Mazda before landing in a ditch.

Gauteng Metro Police spokesman Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the driver and one passenger had died at the scene, while another had died en route to the Helen Joseph Hospital.

"Two of the passengers were unharmed while another is in a critical condition," he said.

"Eyewitnesses said it appeared as though the driver was trying to avoid the stationary vehicle, but collided with another."

Buys' uncle Gabriel Peters said Buys was due to be married in four weeks time.
