Top coach Serame Letsoaka has resigned from big spenders Mvela Golden League side FC AK as head of development to take up a full-time post at Safa.

Sowetan has learnt that Letsoaka is set to take over as new head coach of Amajita, replacing Styles Phumo, whose contract ended in September.

Phumo declined to be offered a new full time job by Safa, saying he wanted enough time to be with his family in Bloemfontein.

At the same time, Letsoaka is back as assistant coach to Steve Komphela for the under-23 national soccer team with immediate effect.

Letsoaka, who submitted his letter of resignation to Bahumi chief executive officer Ali Mokoena on Friday, is currently serving Safa as head coach of Majimbos, a position which has been offered to Kaizer Chiefs under-17 coach Doctor Khumalo.

Khumalo is expected to be assisted by another former Bafana Bafana star, Alex "Barnes" Bapela. But it seems Safa might still keep Letsoaka as a member of the technical team for the duration of the Cosafa Under-20 tournament for Mafikeng in two weeks time for continuity's sake.

Khumalo watched Majimbos training from the stands after their meeting with Safa bosses on Friday.

Solly Luvhengo, who worked as Letsoaka's assistant at Majimbos, will also graduate with the former Free State Stars captain to Amajita.
