The fourth annual Soweto Arts Festival is scheduled to start on December 9.
Celebrating women, the youth and Samora Machel, the popular event takes place in different parts of the township.
l Jammin in da Park is on at the Dorothy Nyembe Park. It will feature Kabelo, Skroof Masanza, Trompies and Magesh.
l On December 10 Choral Music Extravaganza will reign supreme at Ipelegeng Community Centre. Soweto Youth Choir, Soweto Artistic Choir, Soweto Youth Voices, African Youth Ensemble and The Ionians will initiate their peers in choral music.
l Movies under the Sky, a Soweto Arts Festival initiative, will be on at Ekhaya Centre in Dube.
l Tumi, DannyBoy (Norway), Kwani Experience, Obita, Bhubesi, Rainbow, Robo, Syntax and Phat 1KG will show their mettle between December 11 and 15 at different venues.
l Diepkloof Hall, Uncle Toms Hall, Chiawelo Community Centre, Joe Slovo Community and Tshepisong Multi Purpose will be hubs of film and theatre.
l The best of theatre include Tapping Hearts by Julian Mokoto, Bound by Selaelo Maredi, Herebedesh by Darlington Michaels, Jabu Nkosi, Jeremiah Phele, Mfana Jones Hlophe, Michael Lubisi and Thakani Matoni, Lubricate by Duma Mnembe and Hijack by Darlington Michaels.
l Also see movies, Zulu Love Letter, Fools, Chicken Biznis, Promised Land, Wooden Camera, Short Films, Waiting for Valdez, Come See the Bioscope, An Old Wife's Tale, The Sky In Her Eyes and Triomfeer.
There will also be some fabulous documentaries to look out for, including Samora Machel: Son of Africa, Samora Machel: Aluta Continua, Sol Plaatjie Aliens or Broers, Betrayal and Guerillas.
