More political upheavals can be expected in local government structures in KwaZulu-Natal after the Pietermaritzburg high court made a ruling last week in favour of the National Democratic Convention's (Nadeco) national chairman, Hawu Mbatha.
The ruling resolved a four-month dispute between Mbatha and Nadeco's interim president, Ziba Jiyane.
The dispute had split the party into two factions that then formed alliances with political parties at several municipalities.
A confident Mbatha yesterday said the ruling meant there would be more changes at the Amajuba, uMhlathuze, Ndwedwe and other municipalities.
