Fighters from Golden Gloves' five cubs are expected to devour their opponents at Emperors Palace tomorrow in search of recognition.

The tournament, the last for promoter Rodney Berman this year, has been dubbed "Night of Young Lions".

"It will be a brilliant night of boxing that will afford fans the opportunity of scrutinising our stars of tomorrow," said Berman.

Rising stars Kgotla Baeti of Botswana, Lefombou Ngoma of Congo Brazzaville, Isaac Chilembe of Malawi and locals Rudolf Venter and Warren Joubert will be hunting.

Baeti, Ngoma, Joubert and Chilembe are still unbeaten, while Venter has lost twice.

Baeti will fight Moses Mathekga in the lightweight division, and Ngoma will take on Shadrack Kamona in the middleweight class.

Venter will meet Emmanuel Duma in a rematch in the middleweight division. Duma stopped Venter in round four of their six-round clash last December.

Joubert will square up against Meshack Khoza in the junior lightweight class, and Chilembe will fight Ronnie Lategan in the light heavyweight division.

"Everyone agrees that Baeti has what it takes to become a champion. He is a southpaw with crippling power," said Berman.

"The power-punching Ngoma is a wonderful talent. His fight with the able Kamona promises to be a cracker."

Mark Strydom and Bull Muravha will meet in the heavyweight class.
