South African golden boy Ernie Els will be the only player to have won the Nedbank Golf Challenge three times in this year's field.

The lucrative golf challenge tees off at the Gary Player Country Club in Sun City from November 30 to December 3.

Els stands a chance of setting a new record by being the first golfer to win the yearly event four times.

Els won the title in 1999, 2000 and 2002 and is eager to win it for the fourth time this year.

Other golfers who have won it three times are Nick Price and David Frost.

Price won it in 1993, 1997 and 1998, Frost in 1989, 1990 and 1992.

Seve Ballesteros, Sergio Garcia and Bernhard Langer each won it twice.

Tournament director Alistair Roper said Swede Henrik Stenson will be the first to arrive in the country on November 25.
