Lack of money might prevent a 19-year-old Mpumalanga school- boy from taking part in the South African chess championships.

Tumelo Mashile, a grade 11 pupil at the Sybrand van Niekerk High School in Sabie, is one of 11 chess players nominated to play in the championships in Pretoria between December3 and December13.

"My father is not working and all three of us at home depend on my mother, who is a nurse," Mashile said.

"I'd really appreciate any sort of help."

Anyone willing to help can call Teresa Kanaris on 013-753-3276 or Tumelo on 078-651-8305.
