Dedicated science mentor Fararai Frederick Rufetu of Ekangala Comprehensive School in Mpumalanga made a resounding mark for excellence by emerging among the top winners in the National Teaching Awards in Pretoria at the weekend.

Rufetu, who took second spot in the Excellence in High School Teaching category, is the reigning champion of the Aggrey Klaaste Maths, Science and Technology Educator of the Year Awards.

Ngogi Mahaye of Velangaye Secondary School in KwaZulu-Natal took the first spot and Mukondoleli Nemakonde of Ivory Park Secondary School came third.
