Oilgate papers released

After a year-long court battle, PetroSA yesterday handed over documents to the DA of a transaction in which R11million of taxpayers' cash ended up in the election coffers of the ANC.

The DA's Gareth van Onselen said he was "ecstatic" over the handover because it was "a victory for transparency and holding the government and state-owned companies accountable to the public".

The DA had requested the documents under the Access to Information Act, but had been given stiff resistance from PetroSA and Imvume Management.

lImvume paid the R11million to the ANC - instead of paying for oil condensate it had ordered from a supplier.

Imvume then received a further payment from PetroSA to pay the supplier.
