Volleyball South Africa scored a double when its president Tubby Reddy and lawyer Siven Samuel were elected to serve in different committees of the Federation of International Volleyball, the world governing body.

Reddy was elected a member of the board of administration and Samuel in the international body's legal commission.

Samuel is also the head of VSA's legal commission and serves in the Confederation of African Volleyball, the continent's controlling body, of which Reddy is its first vice-president.

They became the first South Africans to serve on the international body.

"The appointment of Reddy and Samuel is good for the development of volleyball in southern Africa," Donovan Nair, VSA publicist, said yesterday.

"They felt honoured by their elections and our teams are also excited about the latest developments."
