The yearly disability fun run at the Altrec Sports Field in Alexandra yesterday saw celebrities such as singers Ringo Madlingozi, Jabu Hlongwane and Deborah Fraser racing on wheelchairs.

Though neither Madlingozi, Hlongwane or Fraser made it into the top three, they nevertheless managed to finish the race.

The 3km race started from the sports field and went around Alexandra and back again.

Madlingozi came 22nd, followed by Hlongwane, who came 25th, and Fraser, who came 48th.

"This has got to be the most tiring and difficult race I have ever 'run'," Madlingozi said.

"When you see physically challenged people pushing their wheelchairs it looks easy, but it's not."

Frazer said she took part to show her wholehearted support for the disabled. "I wanted to encourage people like me to love and care for disabled people," she said.

The run was organised by Disability Magazine.
