To rebuild nation, instruct youth on moral values

It is about time our national government reviewed some of its policies because it's now obvious that it is fighting a losing battle on several fronts.

It is about time our national government reviewed some of its policies because it's now obvious that it is fighting a losing battle on several fronts.

Combating crime and the fight against HIV-Aids, drug and alcohol abuse are the main challenges.

The only solution to these problems is to start educating our people on how to live a God-fearing life.

It is becoming pointless to educate people about the abuse of life-threatening diseases if the proper foundations have not been laid.

For instance, we wait for people to do wrong and only then take them to rehabilitation centres, psychologists and social workers.

I believe if people can be taught from early in life to live according to moral values then we will see better results.

Even our education system needs to be reviewed.

Our children need to be taught good morals from an early age and they must also be monitored to ensure that they are behaving properly.

We need to have subjects at school that include guidance, religious education, health and environment - to be supplemented by motivational talks.

Such subjects should be taught by specialised people such as psychologists, social workers and professional motivational speakers.

It's high time we took a focused stand on rebuilding the nation in accordance with a true morality.
