A man who allegedly snared and bludgeoned to death four impala on a private game farm was denied bail in an Mpumalanga court on Monday.
The 42-year-old man from Komatipoort appeared briefly in the Malelane magistrates' court, but was not asked to plead. The case was postponed to Friday.
He has been remanded in custody and his next appearance will be in the Komatipoort magistrates' court.
The suspected poacher, who was found on the Grootboom farm with dead antelope valued at R2400, was taken into custody after a tip-off to the local police.
Komatipoort police spokesman Michael Ngomane said when police officers went to search the man's house they also found zebra skins and a bucket filled with game meat. - Sakhile Mokoena
