A top-level netball panel will on Saturday assess development players who will represent Tshwane at the provincial Masakhane trials next month.

Claudine Claassen, president of Netball Gauteng North, said the province has invited about 100 players to the trials, which will be held at the provincial headquarters in Sunnyside from 10am.

"During our development drive earlier this year we identified some really good players who also deserve a chance, and it is those players who will showcase their abilities on Saturday," said Claasen.

"The unfortunate part is that we can only choose 12 players to take with us to the provincial selections, which will be held in Johannesburg on November 11.

"We will be assisted by the Gauteng Central provincial coach Professor Chipeya, former under-21 coach Karen Strauss, and national umpire Isabel Harmse on Saturday."

Claasen said Gauteng is preparing for the South African Games that take place in Bloemfontein next year.

"We should have a strong team that will represent the province at the Games next year and retain the title we won last year."
