Two Mpumalanga men pretending to be Good Samaritans, drugged and raped a teenage girl they had offered a lift home.
Captain Klaas Maloka of the Highveld area police at KwaMhlanga said the 14-year-old girl was walking from the farming community of Blinkpan next to Komati at about midday on Monday when she flagged down a Toyota Conquest and asked for a lift.
Maloka said: "The car with two occupants stopped and she told them before boarding that she had no money. They said that was fine."
The girl boarded the vehicle and when she reached her destination, "she asked them to stop so that she could get out, but they ignored her".
"They demanded that she pay them, failing which they would take her with them," Maloka said.
Maloka said that the suspects later bound the girl's hands with tape, which they also used to gag and blindfold her.
"The suspects then injected her with an unknown substance in her left arm and she lost consciousness.
"When she regained consciousness, she found herself on a white farmer's property and could not remember how she got there.
"A farmworker untied her and she immediately complained of excruciating pain from her genitals," Maloka said.
The farmer alerted the police who took the girl to the local clinic for treatment. The clinic found that she had been raped.
No arrests have been made yet and Maloka appealed for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects to contact their nearest police station.
