It seems there is a wonderful new trend. Families of people killed in accidents erect crosses with floral arrangements in their memory next to our roads.
Though this is a wonderful tribute it is turning our roads into graveyards and these tombstones are a hazard to other road users.
I honour people who remember loved ones, but can we do it at the appropriate places and only put temporary crosses next to freeways to save lives?
There is a nice tombstone on the Alberton-Vereeniging road near Meyerton, but shouldn't we erect such memorials where the dead are buried?
