Carmaker Volkswagen SA said yesterday that it would spend more than R400million in training and skills development between now and 2010.

In a project dubbed People for the Future, about 52000 people would be trained in a range of technical skills in the motor and allied industries.

The announcement comes amid efforts by the government and the private sector to deal with a chronic skills deficit across all sectors of the economy in a bid to aid economic growth. - I-Net Bridge
