BlackBerry is reporting an outage affecting users in Europe, Middle East and Africa - on the very day Apple Inc. unveiled its hot new iPhone 5.
BlackBerry announced the issues in postings on Facebook and Twitter, and says it is urgently working to fix the troubles. It apologized to customers for the inconvenience caused.
The outage brought up unpleasant memories of troubles with emails and chat messages last year that left users bereft for three days. In the United States and Canada, the outage was shorter, but many of the world's 70 million BlackBerry users were affected.
The timing could not have been worse: lines formed outside of Apple stores in Britain as the new iPhone 5 went on sale.

@cheeseboy......ya right about blackberry........and for Apple ...Samsung supplies most of the components to Apple. Both sides have taken ideas from one another, and I'm sorry...you can't patent a SHAPE of a phone (meaning how many shapes can you really make out of a rectangular piece of glass for it to be practical?). Knobs. Siri still doesn't work in the UK...Apple have barely changed in the last 5 years. Apple are losing sales because other phones have better features and their way of dealing with it is to take everyone to court...in every country. The only place they have won is in the US. It's not to say they don't have a good product...but the BEST? Not in my opinion...and not according to sales. I prefer Android because it's open-source, I don't have to have Apple's permission to put any features on. Their response to things is why I feel they're bullies, even...they're not doing anything different to make themselves stand out other than throw their toys from the pramReport Abuse

@tpazi do concur with you on the apple since I myself am a proud owner of the Samsung Galaxy S3 and am loving it.
I was just saying that it looks like black berry is dying out there. as much as it is popular in Mzansi. people are soon going to find themselves with door stoppers and choose between apple(yuk) and Android (yeah!!!) or Nokia (still yeah)

Blackberrys are rubbish. They look horrible, overpriced for what they do and the apps are rubbish. I'm writing this on my GF's I-pad 3 though I'm personally an android fan...Report Abuse
