A Taiwan man was charged in the southern city of Kaohsiung for allegedly employing the French style in kissing his girlfriend for the first time, media reports said.

The incident occurred in July when the 40-year-old man, whom police identified only by his surname, Chen, invited his girlfriend of five months to his apartment for dinner.

Police said Chen asked her for a kiss, their first. When she did not say anything, he assumed he had the green light and went for an open-mouthed kiss, police said. The 30-year-old woman, identified by her surname Tsai, became furious.

"Have you been watching too much porn?" police quoted Tsai as saying. "Who the hell uses his tongue on the first kiss?"

She broke up with Chen after the incident and reported it to authorities.

Chen was arrested Sunday and in an interview with police denied that he kissed Tsai that night and accused her of making up the incident to blackmail him for money.

He was charged with violating Taiwan's sexual harassment law. If convicted, he faces up to two years in prison or a fine of 1-million-Taiwan-dollar (33,500-US-dollars).
