A newborn lamb with rare black spots that was abandoned by its mother on an Australian farm has been adopted by a Dalmatian dog with almost identical markings.
Julie Bolton, who runs sheep as well as breeds dogs, is hand-rearing the lamb with the help of one of her champion Dalmatians.
"Now the mother, who doesn't have puppies at the moment, is actually cleaning it and licking it and mothering it, and it tries to mother up to her udder," Bolton told the national broadcaster ABC. "The lamb follows the dog, but it gets its milk from me, from the bottle."
She said she is hoping the odd couple could earn their keep by starring in television commercials.
"It's truly spotted, black spots on a white-based coat, which is the same as a Dalmatian," she saidAuthor: Sid Astbury
