Apparently, a neighbor had kept the snake as a pet.

There should be a law seriously on who gets to keep what kind of pet in a neighborhood with children. this is sickening

@CheeseBoy

I agree with you...but Law should also compel them to declare someway somehow to other tenants the animal they have. These are a danger to society for crying out loud.

I would have killed the thing!!

============================================================================Really Africans don't keep snakes as pets??? You need to homework properly before you expose your limitations. I know too many African traditional healers or whitchdoctors (sp) who keep animals as pets or for whatever purpose. Haven't you heard about these "specialists" riding baboons backwards at night? What are the tokoloshes and who keep them?

Why is it that those who keep snakes prefer a python? It is always the one that makes it to the news. Why? Could it be that the python possesses some magical powers that some are privy to. Some use it for healing, and yes I mean white people. Its not something common to only Blacks. The only problem is that they end up eating other peoples children. Snakes cannot be used as pets and this practice has to stop.

How big was that python? To consider a one year old as food, it would have to be a bloody monster of a snake. I also find the father's statement that he got it off using a 'blanket' is a bit far fetched. Once those buggers clutch on it doesn't let go (their teeth actually lie backwards so you have to push the 'foot' further into the mouth and then use something to prevent them from catching on again)

The whole story sounds like a crock of sh!t. No self respecting python mistakes an ankle for a ribcage. I recon the snake went for some warm, the dad frightened the bejesus out of the poor thing and it simply gave a swift nip in surprise.

This to me sounds not correct. The little i know about pythons, they coil around their prey, tightning their grips breaking the bones then after, smear their saliva around the prey and swallow. Taking a bite?

May be their lions; tigers, etc are herbivorous animals and not carnivorous; which would explain such apparent foolishness; otherwise that would be pure lunacy on their part period.

And then what happened to the owner of the hyena? My view is that such loony should have been jailed for life for premeditated murder or even hanged!!! Because on the day he brought such a monster home he should have known better!!!

One of the guys we know is a game ranger. You should hear the stories about how crazy folk are. They want to do sh!t like catch a mamba because the 'saw how to do it on tv' or they want to take their poodle on a game drive because 'Fluffy goes everywhere with us". One woman wanted to get out of the van and go 'help' a buck that some lions were taking down. Makes you wonder how humans ever got to the top of the food chain!
