Armed gang tries to kidnap daughter of Hong Kong's richest divorcee
An armed gang tried to kidnap the 4-year-old daughter of the woman who was awarded Hong Kong's biggest-ever divorce settlement, a news report said.
The daughter of Florence Tsang, who won more than 150 million US dollars in a highly publicized divorce in 2011, was getting into the family car outside a private kindergarten late Wednesday when four men armed with what appeared to be pistols and knives surrounded the vehicle, the Hong Kong Standard said.
The female driver activated the central locking and a teacher who spotted the incident shouted at the men, who fled leaving a gun and knife at the scene, the newspaper said.
Tsang, 38, who was not present when the incident took place, was four months ago awarded 20 per cent of the assets of her ex-husband, billionaire's son Samathur Li, in a divorce settlement.
She received a 32-million-US-dollar Hong Kong property, a 2.5-million-US-dollar London property, 640,000 US dollars to buy a yacht and 600,000 dollars to join clubs in Hong Kong and Britain.
Li and Tsang, a lawyer, married in 2000 before separating in 2008 and lived a lifestyle which the judge in his ruling said was "just below that of a US-dollar billionaire."Author: Hazel Parry
