How about the audio Mr Sowetan? Without the music samba ain't samba!. A lesson from South Africa: in other countries not only politicians are celebrated but also people from the arts. In fact the Rio Carnival is a major contributor to the economy of Brazil, not only for a few (politically connected or whites and multinational companies as in South Africa), but also people from the Favellas (equivalent of mikhukhu/shanty towns).
