Black parents, white baby

A black Nigerian couple living in the UK got the shock of their lives when the wife gave birth to a white baby girl with blond hair and blue eyes

Baby Nmachi was born to Ben and Angela Ihegboro, who are themselves confused by their daughter's light complexion and fair hair.

According to The Sun, when Ben Ihegboro first saw Nmachi, he exclaimed:

"What the flip? Is she mine?"

Later, after regaining his composure, he said:

"She's a beautiful, miracle baby and we love her".

Ben doesn't like questions about if he is father, saying:

"Of course she is mine. My wife is true to me".

The couple have two other children who, like their parents, have dark complexions.

According to the BBC, there are three possibilities (not counting infidelity) that could explain the bay's light skin: Dormant white genes from her parents' families long ago, a genetic mutation unique to her, or albinism.

But her parents say they don't have any white family and the Daily Mail quotes Ben as saying:

"She doesn't look like an albino child... Not like the ones I have seen back in Nigeria or in books.

"She just looks like a healthy white baby".
