Teacher in porn shock

A primary school teacher in Pimville, Soweto, is accused of showing a pornographic video to two girls and then sexually molesting one of them.

The teacher allegedly showed two Grade 7 pupils -- a 13-year-old and a 14-year-old -- the viral video of a police officer and a prison officer having sex at Leratong Hospital last year.

The two law enforcement officers had been captured having sex while on duty at the hospital's waiting room while an inmate they were guarding was being attended to by doctors.

A family member of the 13-year-old said she told them that she was with a friend on November 5 waiting for a third girl when the teacher approached her and asked her to come to the office.

"He told her he wanted to ask her some questions. But when she went into his office, he asked her how her weekend was, and she told him."

The teacher then allegedly asked the young girl to watch the video on a computer in the office. "After watching the video, he asked her how she was feeling," the family member added.

"She said she kept quiet and then he kissed her and put his hands on her thighs. She said the teacher then turned her chair around so she could face him."

He then took off her panties and sexually assaulted her. "He only stopped when he heard the principal trying to open the locked door."

The third girl, who arrived later at the designated meeting point, alleged that she noticed the teacher coming out of the office fixing his pants.

The girl's father told Sowetan: "I am truly hurt ... and all I want is for the law to take its course, because if not I will deal with him my way. He called and admitted all these things to me and apologised, but he still needs to face the law. That is all I'm asking."

The school does not have a school governing body and although the principal was approached for comment, he referred all questions to the education department.

Spokesman Charles Phahlane said the teacher had been placed on precautionary suspension and was facing an internal disciplinary hearing.

The father of the 14-year-old pupil said his daughter was also called into the office and shown the video later in November. The girl managed to run away after viewing the video clip.

"I took my daughter to school to study, not to be abused. What is this world coming to? How can a man older than me be so cruel? I hate this man."

Both fathers said they had laid charges at Kliptown police station. Spokeswoman Captain Nondumiso Mpantsha confirmed that a case of sexual assault had been opened.

Mpantsha said she could not give further information because the investigating officer was not available.

The fathers also claim that they do not know what is happening with the case.

The teacher is believed to be the father of two members of a popular a cappella band from Soweto. One of the sons, approached for comment yesterday, said he was not aware of the case.

The video sparked national debate last year after Sowetan published clips of its still images in August. By then, it had already gone viral on social media.
