“This was achieved against a target of R225m as set out according to the conditions of the government guarantee given to the SABC,” the state broadcaster's spokesman Kaizer Kganyago said in a statement.  

The SABC increased its revenue by 7% and reduced operating spending by two percent.  

However, it failed to meet government guarantee targets on reducing its staff.  

“The SABC also informed Parliament that the organisation’s financial situation is liquid, with R1 billion in cash reserves,” Kganyago said.  

It told the committee it was ready for the transition to Digital Terrestrial Television.

At last, SABC managed to make money like other media corporations. For a change, we don't expect ANC to use tax payers money to fund their propaganda like they've been doing since Thabo Mbeki's era and apartheid era. Now, everyone who was still paying SABC TV licences should stop with immediate effect. That's the world's greatest rip-off. If you still pay TV licences you must know that you’re a fool.

They must get rid of the political appointees like Hlaudi Motsoeneng and some children of ANC heavyweights who were installed in some of managerial positions.

Mmmmmh I am not convinced, after all the woes and the looting they still made profit where was the revenue from cos everyone I know does not pay their TV licence, or are the adverts bringing in the moola but they ban some ads so they also shoot themselves in the foot.

Watch this space if a new CEO comes in the true state of finances will be revealed just like in SAA.

propaganda institude.When did you ever heard SABC critisising ANC for independent journo.When gwede speaks to this SABC journos he becomes bossy to them .SABC is run with our tax not money from luthuli house.They blocked air for people like malema.
I watch DATV and will never pay licence to promote shwer head.

SABC its not even close on matching Multichoice profit, believe i know, i work there, we made billions of rands in our last financial year, it will take u decades to match match that.
