Good, fire them. Education plays a very important role in how one takes decision. The so called leaders of these striking miners or truckers are not wise and educated but stubborn. Hard lessons must be learned sometimes in life. I wish these companies especially Gold One and Anglomplats not to reverse from their decisions.

good for them. It would have been better if they had banded together earlier but I'm glad that the savage thuggery isn't being rewarded anymore. Just a pity that they started with Lonmin who simply didn't have the financial ability to stand up to them

i for one thinks and believes no one who is an affiliate of a union should leave their work and go strike, i think since they pay monthly premiums to these unions, they should tell unions to go negotiate, unions should talk to the management. I mean if you have a car insurance and you get involved in an accident, you claim to the insurer cos you paying them monthly for that, if they cant help you with what you paying them for you can sue them, the same should be the case with unions, people pay so that the union can talk on their behalf, if unions struggle talking to management they should not involve workers, they get paid monthly so that when there is need to talk to management they go and make it a point that they come with what their members want... i hope am making sense.

and just like driving a car...if you make an accident you are accountable... "driving" a strike you must take account of the rules....it should be the same for these poeple who have been paid by union premiums to drive and navigate ssafely.... I would even say the same for the shooting at Marikana.... the leaders should be held accountable....since they "got behind the wheel and started driving"

The courts passed a case a few months ago, making the unions responsible for damaged property. Anyone can claim damages from the Unions now.

I am staying in a mining community and one thing is for sure, should the mines close down, the effects will be more devastating than most people can comprehend. A local factory (BEE) supplies stuff to the local mines. For the past two weeks their plants are closed as well, since the mines are standing. If this continues they will be forced to liquidate and will have to retrench all their staff. This is only one small supplier to the mines. Fired mine workers with no income cannot buy food, thus I am also aware of local stores that are suffering and if this continues, they will have to start laying of workers, or even close down. 1 person loosing their job in the mines roughly effects 12 people (directly and indirectly). 12000 x 4 = 48000 people!!! These miners and the unions do not know what they are doing... I am telling you, they are sh!tting on their own porches! Unfortunately these striking miners do not realise that their actions have an effect on the total economy and should mines start to close down many people will be severely impacted. But if that is what you want, just maybe it is just what you deserve!!! Just a pity that you will pull so many others to the ground with you!
