So these are the "white mine bosses" that miners and the more vocal lunatics on this site say are exploiting the people. A strange shade of white this....... They say the Inuit (Eskimo) language has no term for what we know as "green", but 17 terms for the shade we call "white". I guess that might explain this.

what earth shattering news Sowetan you truly are a disgrace to the memory of late Aggrey Claassen founder of Sowetan, have you go no shame? cause frm the time Sowetan was founded with very little by way of advanced technology, and now it should be the best read but no it carries BS stories which have no barrings on national development or helping the nation to be informed, even the news most times are without basis, always source is 'deep throat' or something stupid like that, Sowetan where do you recruit these ppl posing in your offices as journalists?

somaar: On this one I'm afraid I disagree. Sure, I think many of us had an inkling of 1) who the money really is and 2) who has shares where, but it is interesting to see the extent of the wealth and financial clout. Also, in the current mining gemors and the racist rhetoric that abounds as a result, I think it might just be useful to inform the louder malletjies out there.

I find this an interesting object l;esson to the racist freaks like yourself that blame all evils on those not of your shade or tribe or political affiliation. Looking at this fugers I can only gather that Blacks are poor if the richest black woman is only R157 million, considering the number 6 is oly 43 my maths says with more than 50% of population is women when I innterpolate I find that only 400 thousand women are above R20 000 figure and the rest are poorer than R20 000. this is quite scary if you understand mathematics.

I don't think it's right for you to be going on the JSE and checking the companies people have invested in and blurting it out for the whole world to see. You should be ashamed.
That being said this list just highlights how much work still needs to be done to ensure equilty in RSA. Top 20 black people with the 20th at number 400 and something! Nonsense man.

Wow these guys are truly an inspiration. Some people think that getting a salary increase every year will get them onto this list or will make them to leave their dreams. Until you realise that salary increase qualifies you for a bigger credit which is equal to more debts + less happiness, you'll work hard. I rather fall 1000 times to leave my dream than limiting myself with the little salary I have. Stop being your own limit. amen

What right do these people have to follow our investments as individuals and write this type of article. Sure it's public knowledge but it takes a heck of a lot of research to trace a natural person on the JSE! After that they mention names and single them out for what reason? So that they can be criminalised?? No this is unacceptable behaviour.

I would appreciate a lack of profanity today or else this debate is over!

Sho my chomi. Though i understand your frustration the more important/concerning thing is that after Patrice at number one the next black person is at number 15. While everybody in between - mostly white - gained their advantage during apartheid and those immoral laws. Nicky Opp, Ackerman family, Lashkmi, Rupert etc etc. The 20th black person on the list at number 400 or something! So the wealthiest 20 blacks still in the top 500 in the country. That is not an achievement it just proves the inequality caused by apartheid!

There is nothing to celebrate here, most of our black brothers and sisters got these millions through public funded money (BEE) meaning they are benefiting political just like the whites did in the past. Most Exxarro directors makes the list of milliniares, now I understand why electricity is so expensive in this country even though SA is largest producer of coal and most of our power is made from it. I would like to believe that most Exxarro workers are well off as well.
