THREE years after starting a business, an entrepreneur from Western Cape walked away with the Sanlam-Business Partners Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Award at a ceremony in Rosebank, Johannesburg.

HONOURED: Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year Tabisa Nomnganga

Tabisa Nomnganga received the award after starting a company that does marketing and communications in an innovative way. Formed in 2009, Bravo Promotions specialises in the design and implementation of branded entertainment communication strategies and campaigns.

Nomnganga said that through determination and hard work, small businesses can overcome the many obstacles they face in the initial stages.

Kobus Engelbrecht, one of the judges, said Nomnganga had the ability to recognise an opportunity and turn it into a profitable business.

Warren Graver of Envirodeck won the award as Small Entrepreneur of the Year, Trevor Davids in the category for Medium-sized Businesses and the Job Creator of the Year Certificate went to Madele Ferreira of Mooihoek Boerdery.

Stuart Forrest, owner of Triggerfish Animation Studios, took the Innovator of the Year Award, while William Duk of Plantation Shutter was the overall victor with his business that designs, manufactures and installs adjustable window and door shutters.
