Shredder

Scary thought!!

I won't mind to be a farmer. In fact, I am thinking of career change and become a farmer.

"He(De Jager) said the government should consider involving farm workers in its land reform programme,"
I hope they won't build the shacks or Estates on those lands. Even more scary to think we will occupy the land with Property estates an shacks and no land to produce food.

Wrong. The mains reasons are farm murders and the threat of farms being removed by force. That is why we don't have farmers. I am no farmer myself, but I am very worried about food prices in the future.

If you could have a dancing and singing movie about a farmer - with scenes of him running through the mielie fields with a beautiful damsel at the end of the field picking sunflowers - then maybe these young ones might be interested, becasue most of them are only interested in song, dance and the good ol' roll in the hay.

With such a high unemployment rate surely this is a great opportunity to create employment, whilst securing food for the nation.

South Africa operates on a depletion economy which leaves destruction in its wake.

People are driven by a terrible sense of deficiency.

When the last tree is cut, the last fish is caught, and the last river is polluted; when the air we breathe is sickening, we will realize, too late, that wealth is not in bank accounts and that money cannot be eaten.

They just don't care !

Our government has a number of projects (Ilima/Letsema/Comprehensive agricultural support programme) that helps "emerging farmers" (comrades, families, extended families relatives and friends). They must tell us how many have EMERGED (if any) since the inception of these projects, and who benefitted (mind you they have spent billions). I advice that they “shut down” those projects with immediate effect and give all that money to the remaining 37,000 farmers, whether those farmers are brown or khaki we don’t care just channel that money to them. It is never too late to do that, but we know that our GUAVAMENT just can’t be advised !

Ayeye, we will die of hunger. Black South Africans hate the boers even though they are the ones that feed us. We will regret our ungratefulness one of these days. How can we have 37000 commercial farmers from 120000?

A wise government would leverage off the skills and ensure that the expertise are transfered appropriately. Not the Zuma Administration which doesnt even know how many commercial farming land we have in SA which is being farmed currently. Its such a shame. Its not a secret that farming is predominantly Afrikaner dominated and its also well known that some of the best farming skills are not documented anywhere. Our govt should be creating programmes where farmers are encouraged to transfer farming skills to other members of the population who are keen on farming on a commercial basis. However instead of this our farmers are being poached by other countries while monies meant for empowerment programmes are siphoned by state officials. It really is a feeding frenzy out there. Not even pirhanas could compete

Hahaha...it's a sad state that professions in SA now boils down to being sexy and cool enough, if a profession is not sexy or cool then....

In all honesty this is just a microcosm of what is happening to our economy on the whole, it is just more apparent because commodities such as food are a necessity to all. When you have a govt that only has a self-serving, short-term vision motivated by greed and implemented with grossly limited capabilities, this is what happens.

The road to ruin is already being travelled and not even the glaringly obvious example of devastation, North of our border, is able to warn and prevent us from the eventuality of crashing head first into this impending disaster.

What this country needs is a true leader - strong enough, honest enough and most definitely smart enough to steer this currently rudderless, sinking ship away from the jagged trocks ahead. Unfortunately, there is no-one in sight and we will inevitably go down!

I believe that we as a nation were born to suffer and only once (if it is not too late by then?) we can't possibly get any lower or suffer any more...can we then start to appreciate one another and truly build our nationon, equally, from a level playing field!

Stolen by Aliens lol, I am sure DJWinner will give you the correct answer though. I honestly thought they take them with to Nigeria, Zambia, Angola etc. or that is why the land transform is 99.9% finished but government failed to put quality farmers onto these old farms. Instead the place was looted and left to die like cattle which apparently "looks like this this time of year" as said yesterday.

They are offered better deals by northern african countries that would like to kick start their economies again.....

the rest is either being killed off or the land was re-distributed now lies in ruins.

SOLUTIONS- you lack decorum and courtesy.

Farmers dont want to produce food for blacks, with, of course, the exception of those who are murdered in their farms (no justification there). As I live in Britain, I have seen mass immigration of SA farmers and young (white) professionals, claiming SA is finished and that its going the Zim way. We need to look at the pre- Van Rebeeck map and redraw the frontiers that were controlled by various (black) people, and start learning about soil engineering, hydrology and advanced farming techniques, and STOP COMPLAINING ABOUT EVERTHING AND START DOING THINGS OURSELVES

Why don't you put together a business plan etc, approach government with it and see if they allocate some commercial farming land to you? They are desperate for successful black farmers to take over good farm land..... and then keep me updated on your progress....

already tried that, the said farm was leased to some guy while my families claim was still pending(corruption0 we are following up on it though.

On the other hand i am busy with the plan for getting a farm leased to me, the problem here is that they need a group of people as beneficiaries to any project the will lease a farm to, and currently I am not willing to work with anyone or I havenot found someone who understand business in a way that can guaruntee that my goals will see success, black people always look for a quick buc and like u said farming is not glamorous its a hard work field, I have tried a couple of white farmes who r selling their farms but no luck so far

That is the idea and its neat intentions. I am glad you can notice, Theo de Jager. Only the stubborn ones who do not want to change or share their land, you know, just like the dinasaurs. The bloody thing was warned to change its feeding and farting habit but it refused. Now see what we are only left with, fossils. Damn you dinasaur.
