It is important to pass these tests as you are developed to be the future artisans most of these learners get here and lazy around and cry when their contracts are being terminated they are those that are dedicated and read their contracts well.I joined as a GIT and had tests to write and we signed in our contracts that should we fail or fall pregnant whilst on training Eskom has the right to terminate

The bottom line is you have to pass , it will be unfair to candidates who started with you and worked hard to pass , from the article you were recruited being 20 & only 5 failed , so how did the 15 pass then , to me stop mourning , count your looses , you were given a chance to improve your lives and you blow it , they are millions of other students who would have done better , honestly speaking I don`t sympathise with you , you have disgraced the whole Escom effort and programme to try to uplift the lives of disadvanatged African people , if you were my sons I would have wipped you the African way

If what is being said by these learners is true, then they were unfairly treated. Why others fail three times and given a chance and others fail once but get kicked out?? Hillary Joffe, please investigate.

I agree with Kaylae and Flemza: SUch tests seem to be more or less the equivalent of an "entrance exam" offered by universities to those without matric. Obviously the candidate has to pull finger and demonstrate that he or she is going to be a worthwhile, productive employee. Those not willing or able to crack what is required, MUST fall by the wayside. They are not running a charity shop. They are trying to empower people who are prepared to work to improve themselves.

CPMaklov:different scenarios Eskom employ lots of black matriculants than whites nor other race. These kids since they are paid they just lazy around and think the world revolves around them every year we have lots of matriculants and those that are serious and want a better future take their classes seriously and pass.after all their modules they must also do trade tests to qualify and i know that those who fail trade tests gets given chances and mind you this is the last stage. These ones failed at first attempt whilst still doing modules its won't be fair as well to those hardworking matriculants

Let us not blame this on apartheid again.
If you are a student you study, pass and go to next level.
Fail , repeat the class or be disimissed as some of the courses there is no room for trial and error. The learner who failed once and not given a chance, my gut telsl me that the rest who failed several times and allowed more chance is related to TJOTJO, that's how corrupt our country is. How does Dipuo Peters, minister of energy being a social worker in profession become minister of energy. This is a joke, this woman never adresses eskom issues but wants to adress the parliament regarding the nuclear budget when cross questioned about the budget as well she becomes very defensive. Wonder if Dipuo understands her job description. Most of Zuma's ministers are incapable, Angie Motshekga is not the only one.
Learners study and complain if you pass and treated unfairly why do we need people to compete at how some are good in failing \? No man. tired of electricity cuts every week , month end the bill is harrendous !! Yerrrrrr

This boy is talking k a k, when I was on training at Eskom, all the criteria were made clear to me before hand, I know the standard of training at eskom is very high. If you fail, you are given a choice to do an oral test on what you got wrong or repeat the whole exam at another time or repeat the course, you need to be careful of your choice becoz the other students are not waiting for you. There were cases where an appie will have someone to translate the question to his/her mother tangue as they were challenged in the Qeuun`s language.
Kaylae/Sugaar, I did my training at Koeberg in 1994, the area was AWB infested at the time.

These young people were given a once in a lifetime chance to join Eskom which happens to also pay well when fully employed. So many other youngsters are crying for a chance to be trade trained and skilled. It's a pity SA youngsters enjoy boozing and sexing more than they give attention to their training. With electrical engineering training, you have to get it right otherwise a poorly trained person will be a danger to himself, co-workers, equipment and society. They should have worked hard enough to pass. Now its back to the street corner.

@ Sugar , just speak Afrikaans , whats wrong with that , Afrikaans its purely South Afrikan language like Zulu , Sotho , Venda , Tswana , Tsonga , Xhosa and many more I left , if you can not speak 2/3 of these langauges then you should be ashamed of your self , English is not a South Afrikan langauge , even though I speak it together with French , Spanish and Portuguese , to me its just for fun to just understand how stupid people who speak these langauges are , but I`m speak all my Mzanzi languages with pride including Afrikaans hence you can`t desciminate me anywhere in Mzansi

Five trainees from Balfour, Mpumalanga, said they were told to write a test in a National Qualifications Frameworks (NQF) level three course, when they had not completed the level two course.

The trainees - Stephen Mhlambi, Paseka Motloung, Siphelele Mhlambi, Nicky Matshaya and Saphulusa Leemai - further said the test was based on field training, which they had not done.

"I failed a test once and I was sent home. Others had failed three times but were given a second chance."

Stephen Mhlambi said according to the contract they were allowed to fail a module three times
**************************************************************************************************************
Eskom's testing system is a bit flawed if what the trainees say is true.

Another big blob is why allow students to fail (nogal 3 times), IMO we always promote underperformance or non performance.

@Sikhokho1 The fact that you say it does not mean it is a fact , I AM A SOUTH AFRICAN I CORRECTED YOU SEVERAL TIMES. Go back and finish your matric. Check my comment and respond but cause your mental capacity and IQ are challenged you do not gather that we comment on overall country leadership which is a reflection of what happens at ministerial levels. Guess all this is not in your vocabulary. U i vesi ndlebe ngempela !! Good luck in your effort to matriculate.
