Hahahah Whahahahah!! How great! So now we are waiting for the population whom are battling to get an eduction to go 60 steps forward to get a pilots licenses and the train to be a commercial pilot! We going to have no more pilots left! hahah great, guys implement rather a program to help underprivileged kids to get their pilots license and then start putting in rules like this.

I don't like this at all so what if there are no qualified black appliers, our country is rotten and believe S.A is the worst country to live in Africa, no peace of mind always worried about tomorrow as our government have no idea what they must do except rip ppl off and make things worse than they are. ohhh my, I swear anyone that is qualified to do anything in not a prority in South Africa. It seems like government is more concerned about race than experience, quality service provided by professionals. Haai I give up. This country is going down. I am all for transformation dude. I would love to see someone succeed who comes from degradation, but do so in good time not by disallowing another the opportunity. All these resources stand still now until people of color gets pilots licenses? This is how it works if you want to become a commercial pilot you must go to a flying school and log something stupid like 150 hours of flight time where you pay fuel and training in a small plane where you get a pilots license and then you go to commercial training. Where on earth does SAA think colored people will get the money for all this?

Some of you have not read the article properly. They say that they will apoint whites if there are vacancies with no suitable black candidates. This is in line with the " fair discrimination" that the constitution allows in order to redress the past imbalances.

The problem arises when a body appoints an unqualified black person over a qulaified white, or simply leaves the vacancy open if no suitably black person can be found - that is " unfair discrimination".

Affirmative action measures are still necessary in our country, but to be fair there should be a sunset clause. The discrimination against whites cannot go on for ever, and white youth must not be allowed to lose hope. It's been 18 years since democracy - I would say another 2 years of AA would be fair enough, 20 years is a long time, at most another 5 years or maybe 7 to take it to a quarter century.

Good answer, but it will take time to get black kids to get their pilots license why not let the white kids who have it go for it under the condition that if the colored students get their licenses the white kids contracts will be reviewed. There is always a middle ground my friend although I am there for sharing the wealth.

this people seemed to be clueless about atracting more blacks in to those positions,they should be creating interest by making sure that at schools information and bussaries are available for those who are nterested now they want to force that by taking people who qualifies out without iplementing proper channels that ensures their target without bringing unnecessary racial contention.

I am with you there. Give the students the opportunity to get there not just give it or expect students to come forth. Give them incentive to work hard. Learner-ships for kids who seem to show an interest and subsidies or remuneration for those who train them, use the knowledge the "white people" have to teach the "colored people" how to before shutting the gates.

When will they learn that once you hold a South African passport you are South African irrespective of colour. Most of these young trainees were born after 1994 anyways!!!

It doesn't bother me anyways, I don't fly SAA because they are so unprofessional!!! I normally fly business class on the other international carriers and the domestic leg home from OR is a real wake up call service wise. In fact I'm going to instruct my staff not to book flights on SAA!!!

I do not think that white south african's will toyi toyi, they will just quietly apply at another country and make a success there, generating tax and income in another country. This is sad. There is nothing racist about this. This is what companies are doing….ever heard of BEE. Companies are striving for equal employment between all races in SA. So what is wrong in this? Why must it be seen as soo wrong when black people do this, this is the same thing white companies do as well. If white companies never want to hire blacks and if they do they get underpaid anyway, so why must we not be hired in high profile jobs just like whites are doing in their companies? Hai maan, let’s not act like these things don’t happen in Mzantsi, why question it when its done by blacks. I fully support this, they must be adequately trained and hired.
