This was the second such complaint against the fast food chain.

The Witness reported that Sfikile Nokuthula Buthelezi was asking the CCMA to set aside final warnings she received for taking non-halaal food onto KFC premises in Maxwell Street, Empangeni.

United Chemical Industries, Mining, Electrical, State, Health and Aligned Workers Union provincial secretary Bheki Shabane said the woman bought food from a nearby supermarket, but was prevented from taking it onto the premises of the KFC.

The matter would be heard on September 4.  

On Friday, KFC lost a case of unfair dismissal against an employee who took phuthu (maize porridge) and bean curry to work at the Empangeni Village branch of KFC.

Jabulani Cele, 31, was reinstated after appearing before the CCMA.

KFC franchise holders Colefax Trading and Yum Restaurants International were ordered to pay him R5200 in lost wages.

The companies which own KFC follow Islamic practices.

It is time KFC that side of the country employ only muslims to stop this nonsense of theirs. It is crazy, maybe we should stop buying KFC until they sort their problems, people please buy only Nandos, it is much safer and healthier than oil fried KFC.

I do not like people that want me to change to suit their needs and neither do I like people that think they are holier than thou.
Having said that, there needs to be mutual respect between the employers and employees irrespective of what religion they belong to than try and change people to suit their needs.
If Halaal employers do not feed their employees and neither do they want them to bring their own, then in future, they must employ only Muslim believers.
