Never mind good people, according to the intellectuals in the ancyl, soon everything will be nationalised and all the farmers will have either been murdered or chased off their farms.

So the price of maize or any food products won't matter because we will all be in the same position - mired in poverty, starving and being fed from the back of a UNAID truck!

What? Where are the real reasons for the food price hike? Land insecurity, farm murders. Who in their right mind would invest in land and growing crops if the reward you get is land claims and murder. Wake up South Africa. Eish

In the country where the greediness and corruption is an order of a day, the poor would always be the victims and sacrifise in these despirate times without any outspocken advocacy.
This would take a govt with nation interest at their heart, a patriotic govt ,not a stooge , to come out with a patriotic plan in saving the nation, providing as much subsidy as it takes to the productive famers , to cushion and secure the food costs for the nation, and ensuring that the farmers are cutting the food price down to the level to which the poor can afford the stable food cost at their level , without risking slipping into femine and poverty as their govt subsidy is there as their insurence to such demanding times.
The trouble is fast aproaching and our people are at risk, yet the hearts of the greedy and corrupted renders our govt blind in taking right actions to save the nation. Zimbabwe fell to this gap due to the same weakness and we will follow if we are trapped to the same glue of selfishness.

"US was the largest maize-growing region and the world’s major exporter" If we also buy maize from US we are fools. Lets take the land back from Boeremag and start farming...Some of the Land is not producing anything is just a fence.

Jirrie but you are clueless.

US grows mainly yellow maize for animal feed and some for USAID.
Now what happens when the yellow maize isn't enough for the animal feed market? Bingo - they use the white maize instead.

Yes, we import a small amount of maize but that is because we now have half the number of farmers than we used to. Maybe if you'd stop killing the poor sods off, we would have better food security
