• KFC staffers fired for vulgar anthem

A Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC) employee is challenging his dismissal from work for apparently bringing non-halaal food into the fast food store in Empangeni, KwaZulu-Natal, it was reported on Tuesday.

Jabulane Cele had brought uphuthu and bean curry to work when the owner of the fast food store accused him of breaching company policy, the Star reported.

He was suspended from work after he refused to sign a final warning letter and was fired last month.

Workers at the fast food franchise were apparently ordered to keep their lunch-boxes outside the building after the staff room was closed last year under new management.

The store is owned by Colefax Trading (Pty) Ltd and Yum Restaurants which practises Islam.

Cele has taken the matter to the United Chemical Industries Mining Electrical State Health and Aligned Workers union.

The issue was also taken to the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration. The matter would be heard on August 10.

KFC again?

It's only phuthu and beans, it's not pork which they say is haraam. Maybe I could understand if it was pork. So does it mean that African food is haraam to these people? That's why when one muslim guy once brought me some food I chucked it into the rubbish bin. He won't accept to eat my food but expects me to eat his.

@Shredder, even if it was pork, he is sending to his own stomach, what diference does it make when he eats it before coming to work or eats it at work? he is stil the same person and so this outlet and the muslime idiots must me send parking.
If this happened where i come from i would make sure they are out because this is our culture and home country now they came chassing butterflies and we rescued them and now they claim to be the owners.

Sowetan, please can you provide a list of entities owned by both Colefax Trading (Pty) Ltd and Yum Restaurants so I can boycott their entities. From today I am entering a KFC store until they drop the charges and APOLOGISE to the employee in question, I have no interest in supporting establishments that do not respect my culture. Had KFC supplied food to the people who cook and serve their meals perhaps they would have a case but these workers cannot even afford meals they prepare yet they are still bullied in their work place.

Since when is Ismamic religion / culture important than sound labour practices?

KFC has a responsibility in ensuring their franchisees do not flout the law or ill-treat a community from which they make the bulk of their profits in SA.

They dont only smell bad, but very bad! have you been to Marabastad? the general air is contaminated with their lightsticks, etc,etc.
Now one option for them, if they cant accept us on our our soil there is one exit for them back to their starving countries
