Good initiative .... BUT it needs to include assistance in the form of mentorships. Farming is a damn difficult job and you have to know what you are doing.

These are the sort of articles that give me hope. As long as the money goes to the right people (I know I am asking for too much ) and measures are put in place that it is put to good use then we are on the right track.

A nation that cannot feed itself and take care of its farming community will face difficulties.

We congratulate the brilliant initiative as such demand every slice of the cheese to be shared equally among our poor and marginalized citizens, no relative and politically corrupt contaminated ANC cadres this time! This is a good initiative for economic growth and development, big up!

Yebo yes. This is ayoba indeed. now lets also make sure that the landbank ceo does not use the cash to finance any more golf estates and free loans (i.e. gifts) to his political chommies.

Personally I cant wait to taste my first piece of Redistribution Wors

Geeeez okes it doesnt look like like the land question is a big issue here in Sowetoville. This story has been up for three hours and only 6 comments.

Could it possibly be that there aren't that many wannabe farmers in our readership. ????

@BokFan
There are wannabe farmers here but not in Soweto , rural people are good candidates for this kind of thing because farming is not for sissis. These concrete jungle rats(Sowetans) cannot even plant grass, let alone cutting it .

The likes of young DJ want the land - they just don't want to get off their flabby bottoms and work it. Most of those shouting loudest wouldn't have a clue how to start if they got a farm

MC too right. Sadly tooooooooo right. Instead of sending the surplus yoot to the SAD force they should send them to a local vegetable farm.

Long ago on Times someone was suggesting that we have something similar to the kibbutz system start here. Maybe giving these pampered and overaged children a taste of REAL work would be a good idea. Certainly would help to get some food growing

A condition of this should be that the recipient complete an agricultural course in the field that he wishes to practice

Well done to you Dandan, hope you have great success, I also don't think it is about uplifting only black farmers, I think everyone should benefit from this.

have u guys seen what getting paid means for cartoons, dolar signs replacing your pupil???, i have no mirror but I swear something like that just happened to my eyes, this hear makes me wanna quit my current job, where i get the sense that even if i were to work 24/7 and contrubute massively nobody will notice, farming hard work as it is, i can measure myself there, energy inputs can be equated to product output, atleast there i will get the satisfaction i need as a person, but yah farming is not for sisis, neither is it a quick buc cow, labour cost associated with crop production can really affect the whole farming thing, farming is becoming more tech dependent hence its not for fools either.
