Nedbank has taken over her financial matters. Yesterday, in Sandton, the bank revealed that Zahara, real name Bulelwa Mtukana, had been chosen as the face of its financial fitness campaign.

The salient details of the deal remained unclear since both parties steadfastly refused to disclose how much she would earn.

Nedbank communications and corporate affairs manager Sydney Mbhele said it was part of the bank's policy not to disclose banker-client details.

"We won't be disclosing how much. But this is beyond just marketing," Mbhele said. "This conversation started in November 2011 beyond the things you're talking about (exploitation) surface in the media.

"The synergies between brand Zahara and our brand are so strong that we've risen above all the things that you're talking about."

But it was revealed that Zahara would be moving her financial affairs from her previous bank, FNB, to Nedbank in order to assist her to manage them better. This was confirmed by Mbhele.

Thembinkosi Ncisa of Zahara's record company, TS Records, said: "We like to commend Nedbank for having belief and trust in this young woman who's making waves in the industry."

Zahara said she was now "financially fit".

"We're known as the youth. We have this culture of not saving."
