This is a sign of bad things, meaning a quarter of the labour force population in the cannot get a job, what about structural or frictional workers? and what is the official unemployment rate, probabaly 35%

The education system need to be restructured such that it produces enterpreneurs than Labourers__ thence the economy will expand and produce more jobs!! Government please support small businesses and curb corruption that corrodes skills development.

Out of nearly 50 million people ony 13.1% are employed, and we wonder there's so much crime and this tender business is not helping seeing that a big chunk of money is going to one person. Appreciate the job u have regardless of whether its not ur dream job....be glad that u r not watching the sun rising and when it sets. Trust me I know, its painful to just chill nje doing fakol.

500 000 jobs promised by zuma. clearly the man was and still is out of touch with reality.

Out of nearly 50 million people in South Africa, only about 13,1 million are employed.
and even less than that pay tax. now you see why we are always so mad at the ANC led govt

17 years and we still have a shocking ratio of employed vs unemployed. this is a disastor. and certain people in power have a nerve to pat them selves on the back and claim they are doing a good job.

You get what you vote for....don't blame the anc.....

Many people saw it long time ago that these guys are too good to be true about anything they promise. The are just cheap talkers pregnant with empty promises.

Absolute waste of votes. Good luck to those keep them in power....

@CheeseBoy
in fact we just turned 18. However the economic structure is unable to produce those excess jobs that are necessary for the absorption of all the labour force we currently have, i feel that is the crux of the matter.

This is what happens when you have a government that did not invest enough to support the private sector but rather inflated our public sector into a unproductive, w.asteful str.ain on our budget and the economy...........lets not even get to the welfare grants.

These job losses are jobs gained in Asia, particularly Ch!na, as we have opened our trade boarders and have allowed the Ch!nese to indirectly st.eal all our productive jobs...................this was done by allowing COSATU to p.ressurize the private and public sectors in this country to increase real wages by more than most of our competitor countries...........making our workforce and industries uncompetitive. The 75000 jobs l.ost here in SA is 75000 jobs gained in Ch!na.

are you sure its a 1 ; 1 ratio? its probably way more like a five to one ratio at least, at 5 to one its 375 000 jobs producing 5 or more times (because no maximum hours and stuff) compared to what our 75 000 were able to do.... the reason Ch!na wont introduce the min wages is because they want to share the jobs as far as they can and also busy hands and minds dont do CR!ME

In order for as to have 0 unemployment in SA Zuma must take all the unemployed to the left and allow our SANDF to shoot them.
To eliminat poverty let one person per couple be employed and the other be unemployed, image a family of 8 people all working and next door neibour of 3 all unemployed, it doesn't make sense.
